So I picked up Fat Princess after finding out it had been released. I had no idea it finally came out since it was being delayed so much I stopped following it. The game was incredibly fun for the first day but now I’m kind of sick of it. It was already worth the $15 I payed for it though.
There are a total of 6 classes with 4 abilities each. This is because each class has an unlockable alter ego you can switch to whenever you’d like. Each of these classes has 2 abilities. Usually an area effect and a single target attack with some exceptions. My personal favorite is the priest as you can really push/hold the line when playing.
Much more fun than a night at the movies. I always compare gaming expenses to a $10 movie ticket but now that I think about it aren’t movies just overpriced anyway? Maybe I should find a new standard of entertainment expense vs reward to judge games by.
Alright, I FINALLY got Left 4 Dead. This is in spite of all the complaints about L4D2 being made up of all the “content updates” that were promised for L4D. I just decided it was worth trying out especially because I picked it up cheap during a discount weekend on Steam. Anyway, on to the actual review.
The first thing I noticed was the lack of weapon selection. I thought maybe you would find new things as you went or something but I guess I was wrong. You do get some “upgrades” but they are basically the same weapons with faster reload/rounds per second, etc. This was really disappointing.
Graphically the game blows me away though. I love the dismemberment of zombies and the excellent job they did with the lighting. This is truly the first showcasing of a “movie video game” in my opinion. If they had gone all out this might have revolutionized a new genre.
Anyway, overall I think it was worth the purchase even with L4D2 coming out so soon. I’m amazed people complain so much when this is still a very complete game. I imagine it’s because it’s Valve so people always expect more from them or something.
The information and previews available for Fat Princess look really promising. Although there is nothing terribly original or new about the game it looks quite polished and enjoyable for quick game breaks. I’m curious how many classes or abilities will be in the game. If they include a large amount of them it could have a lot more depth than seems apparent at the moment. The PS3 could really use an awesome arcade game like this though.
Just came across an awesome preview of God of War 3. This game looks like it’s going to be even more gory and violent than the other two combined which is always a plus as far as I’m concerned. The epic scale has been maintained with gigantic monsters, huge levels, etc. It will definitely live up to the title’s reputation. However, I’m not sure how fresh or new the game will feel as a lot of it looked like the same game with better graphics. Hopefully this isn’t the case and I just missed some stuff.
